Patriot Cakes Restaurant Veterans Day Event November 11, 2024

Each year during Veterans Day, Patriot Cakes Restaurant serves the veterans of Athens, Tennessee with free meals for the veteran and their spouse. Even though this was not a car show, it was very appropriate for them to receive this award and Car Show VIP Awards is proud to award them. The restaurant is normally closed on Monday but they still opened the doors and the staff worked on their day off. Thank you Patriot Cakes and staff. Thank you Ambassador Bob Fultano for the suggestion. They also received a Proclamation of Appreciation from the County Mayor.

Vince had his eye on this truck sitting in his neighbors yard for years. He tried to buy it from his neighbor but it wasn't for sale. Vince had to work overseas for a while and when he returned home his wife had purchased it for $600. Life happens and years later, the truck was fully restored and highly modified to its show worthy condition today. 380 stroker, 450 HP, Corvette rear and front, ostrich seats, gray metallic satin paint. Rats, Rust and Horsepower Car Show November 9, 2024

This truck was purchased new in 1948 as a cab and chassis. A dump bed was added and used as a farm truck for decades. When grandpa passed away, the truck was used as a transmission shop truck by his son. The truck today has been restored and will stay in the family forever. This is a very cool car. A 1954 Chevy Gasser drag car. 540 Cubic inch, 1,200 HP, 1,000 Ft. Pd. torque, low 9's in 1/4 mile, low 5's in 1/8 mile. 

Bobby is a Marine. Bobby built this car. Bobby's daughter is an active duty Lt. Commander in the US Navy. His daughter created the name and logo for the car. Bobby's grandfather owned 3 ESSO gas stations in New Jersey and his logo is on the car. Today Bobby won "Best Paint", "Youth Pick" and "Car Show VIP Award". That is very deserving. Congratulations.

David's grandfather, Raymond, purchased this car new 114 years ago and he named her Josephine. Josephine has been handed down thru the family for generations. It has been fully restored to like new condition. When Raymond passed away, the family found many years of old original license plates in his shop. Great family and car.

​Sometimes I select the VIP Award just for a sake of the car. That was the case with this car. First of all, the 32 Ford is my all time favorite car. My style is traditional hot rod. I  fell in love when I spotted this car. I had to ask around about the owner. Turns out the owner was the DJ for the event and the owner of the Cherokee Rod Run.
The Hanby Family
Mr. Hanby is a Marine from the Vietnam War. When he returned home from the war, he bought this 1969 Rambler Scrambler new from the showroom floor. He has kept the car in the family all of these decades. He recently gave the car to his daughter. She is a mechanic and a car restorer. I think the car is in good hands.

Kaitlyn Feller
​I was planning to show my car in this show, but I had to do a lot of restoration work on it and I didn't make the show. About a month ahead of the show, I told the show coordinator to give my registration away to a young person just starting out restoring and hot rodding cars. He found Kaitlyn. This Mustang was given to Kaitlyn by her step father. They pulled the four cylinder eng and trans and replaced it with a big V8 and trans. Kaitlyn changed the color and added new seat covers. Kaitlyn won Top 50, Car Show VIP Award and she was gifted her car registration. Not bad for her first show. This is what the VIP Award is all about. Congratulations Kaitlyn.
